An eight-year-old Palestinian child was killed on Wednesday (July 8) as a result of Israeli shelling that targeted a civilian vehicle in the Al-Sabra neighborhood south of Gaza City on Tuesday evening, according to a medical source at Al-Shifa Hospital, raising the toll of the strike carried out by an Israeli drone to 4 dead and 3 wounded.
In a separate incident, the Civil Defense Directorate announced that it dealt with the injury of a Palestinian woman by bullets fired by Israeli gunboats in the port area of western Gaza, without revealing the nature of her injury or her health condition.
Local sources and eyewitnesses also reported that the Israeli army fired artillery shells towards the eastern and southern areas of Al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, while Israeli vehicles opened fire on the tents of the displaced people in the Al-Mawasi area, northwest of Rafah, without registering any injuries.
Demolition of a Palestinian house in Hebron
The Israeli army demolished a Palestinian house in the town of Ithna, west of Hebron, under the pretext of "building without a permit" in the area classified as "C" in the West Bank, and the owner of the house said that an Israeli force stormed the town accompanied by a military bulldozer and began to demolish the house, which has an area of about 160 square meters and includes a water well, stressing that he has spent everything he owns on building it during the past 12 years.
Palestinian and Israeli human rights organizations point out that Israel imposes severe restrictions that prevent Palestinians from obtaining building permits in Area C.
According to UN data, demolitions during 2025 led to the displacement of more than 1,700 Palestinians, while the Israeli authorities carried out 341 demolitions during the first half of this year, which resulted in the destruction of 740 Palestinian facilities, in addition to the issuance of 254 new demolition notices, according to the Commission for Resistance to the Wall and Settlements.
Palestinians say the demolitions are accompanied by ongoing attacks by the army and settlers, including killings, razing land and preventing farmers from accessing it, as part of a policy of forced displacement aimed at expanding Israeli control over the land.
Israel assassinates the director of public relations at the Egyptian committee
On Tuesday evening, the Israeli occupation army assassinated the Director of Public Relations at the Egyptian Committee in the Gaza Strip, Mohammed Al-Wahidi.
According to eyewitnesses, an Israeli drone targeted a civilian vehicle in the Al-Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, killing 3 citizens, including Al-Wahidi.
The Egyptian Committee is implementing relief projects in the Gaza Strip in light of the difficult humanitarian conditions that the people of the Gaza Strip are living in as a result of the Israeli war of extermination.
Al-Wahidi assassination targeted relief work in Gaza
The assassination of Mohammed Fawaz al-Wahidi (Abu Suhaib) represents a new episode in the series of systematic targeting launched by the Israeli army against relief and civilian personnel in the Gaza Strip, in a context that observers see as an attempt to undermine the elements of life and steadfastness inside the besieged enclave.
Al-Wahidi is one of the most prominent figures of the Egyptian Committee for Relief and Reconstruction of Gaza, and he was killed by Israel after a precise pursuit carried out by an Israeli drone that targeted his civilian vehicle twice, the first near Barcelona Park and Al-Jazeera Club, before the plane continued to follow him and hit him directly on Al-Maghrabi Street in the Sabra neighborhood, killing him.
Sources in Gaza confirmed that the raid came about an hour before the start of the Egyptian national team's match in the 2026 World Cup, an occasion for which the Egyptian committee had prepared huge broadcasting screens inside shelters and displacement camps to relieve families before the event turned into a mass funeral.
The attack was not the first of its kind, as an Israeli plane had previously targeted the car of three media professionals working within the committee's projects in the Netzarim axis, which led to the deaths of journalists Qishta, Shaath and Ghoneim despite wearing relief badges, and the occupation justified the bombing at the time by claiming that they "used a drone that threatens the forces", while no official comment was issued regarding the assassination of al-Wahidi.
