Polls and the Lead
Thirty-seven parties and alliances are participating in the Israeli elections on Tuesday, with expectations that 13 of them will find their way to the Knesset (Parliament). Leading these parties are "Likud" led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and the "Yesh Atid" party, which is participating in the elections for the first time and is led by former Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot. Public opinion polls indicate that "Yesh Atid" could become the largest party in Israel, after "Likud" held this position for many years.
Right-Wing and Religious Parties
The right-wing and religious camp includes parties such as "Shas," which represents Eastern Haredim and is led by Aryeh Deri, and "Yahadut HaTorah," which represents Haredim of Western origins, and "Religious Zionism," led by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich. This camp also includes the "Jewish Power" party led by Itamar Ben-Gvir, "Yisrael Beiteinu" led by Avigdor Lieberman, "Your Nation Israel" founded by Ofer Winther, and "The Reservists" founded by Yoaz Hendel. These parties adhere to hardline right-wing positions in foreign policy and security, and reject the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Opposition Alliances
The "Ma'arav" party is participating in the elections as an alliance between "There Is a Future" led by Yair Lapid and "Bennett 2026" headed by Naftali Bennett. The "Democrats" party is also participating after merging with the "Labor" and "Meretz" parties, led by Yair Golan. Both parties call for security and economic reforms, reject settler terrorism, oppose settlement, and advocate for a political solution with the Palestinians.
Arab Lists
The Arab lists are participating in the elections through the "Joint List" led by Yousef Jabareen, and the "United Arab List" led by Mansour Abbas. These lists call for ending the occupation, establishing a Palestinian state, achieving equality, and stopping discrimination against Palestinian citizens. Polls show that neither camp will achieve a majority allowing the formation of a government without an alliance with Palestinian parties in the Knesset.
