16,693 companies and individual commercial records registered in Syria over 9 months
Syria registered 16,693 companies and individual commercial records in the first nine months of the year.

The total number of companies and commercial records registered with the Directorate of Companies at the Ministry of Industry, Internal Trade, and Consumer Protection reached 16,693, from the beginning of the current year until the end of September. These registrations were distributed among limited liability companies, partnership companies, joint-stock companies, and commandite partnerships, alongside individual commercial records.

For his part, the Director of the Directorate, Muhammad Aqla, clarified in a statement to a SANA correspondent today, Friday, that the number of individual commercial records reached 11,718 records, while the number of limited liability companies reached 3,724 companies, partnership companies reached 1,102 companies, in addition to 77 joint-stock companies and 72 commandite partnerships.

He pointed out that developing the services provided to investors and facilitating the procedures for establishing and organizing companies comes within the framework of government efforts aimed at improving the business environment. He emphasized the continued work on updating work mechanisms, simplifying procedures, and expanding electronic services, which contributes to raising performance efficiency and saving time and effort for investors.

The legal forms of companies differ according to the nature of the activity and legal liability. Individual commercial records pertain to activities managed by their owners individually. Partnership companies are based on cooperation between two or more persons with their personal liability for obligations. Meanwhile, the liability of partners in limited liability companies is limited to their shares in the capital.

He added that joint-stock companies divide their capital into shares, while commandite partnerships consist of two types of partners: general partners who are liable for obligations, and limited partners whose liability is determined by the limits of their shares in the capital, reflecting the diversity of available legal structures to support economic activity.
