The Ministry of Interior revealed that 235 people were arrested in connection with terrorism-related cases and thwarted the smuggling of large quantities of Captagon and narcotic hashish during the past month.
In a statement published on its official identifiers, on Wednesday evening, June 10, the Ministry reviewed the most prominent achievements of its departments during the month of May 2026, stressing the achievement of results in the security, service and organizational fields, including combating terrorism and organized crime, enhancing the security of border crossings, and developing the services provided to citizens.
Statistics showed that during the past month, the Counter-Terrorism Department was able to arrest 235 people in connection with terrorism-related cases, dismantle 7 cells, and carry out 7 security operations.
The data showed that the number of detainees was distributed between 198 Syrians and 37 foreigners, while the arrests were concentrated in several governorates, most notably Deir Ezzor, Aleppo, Damascus, Homs and Hama, and the ministry did not specify the exact nationalities of the foreign detainees.
Drug Trafficking Thwarting and Fraud Cases Addressed
In the field of combating crime, the Airport and Ports Security Department announced the foiling of the smuggling of 13 kilograms of hashish and 71,200 Captagon pills, in addition to the seizure of counterfeit currency and 23 kilograms of hashish that were hidden in various disguise methods.
For its part, the Criminal Investigation Department granted about 85,000 "unconvicted" documents, processed more than 300 criminal seizures, and followed up on 139 fraud cases during the same month.
Service Development & Rehabilitation
The Ministry of Interior pointed out that the General Directorate of Prisons and Corrections has established six integrated examination centers for inmates in the governorates for the 2026 cycle, and provided medical care to more than 110,000 health cases within the correctional centers.
The Human Resources Department also announced the nomination of more than 600 personnel to participate in specialized training courses, and the opening of new affiliation centers in the governorates of Deir Ezzor and Daraa, within the framework of the Ministry's plans to qualify cadres and develop human capabilities.
The Ministry stressed that these measures come as part of its efforts to enhance security and stability, raise the efficiency of institutional work, and develop the services provided to citizens in various Syrian governorates.
