A member of the Military Police of the Ministry of Defense was killed and two others were wounded during clashes that broke out at dawn on Tuesday in the Al-Mureijah neighborhood of Homs city during a security force carrying out an operation to arrest a wanted man accused of criminal cases.
According to local sources, the patrol tried to surround the house where the wanted man was holed up before being subjected to heavy gunfire from inside the neighborhood, which led to the outbreak of a direct clash that lasted several minutes.
The clashes resulted in the death of one of the members as a result of his severe injuries, while two other members were taken to the hospital amid information that their condition is stable.
The sources said that after the clash, the security forces pushed in additional reinforcements, imposed a wide cordon around the area, while carrying out combing operations in search of the shooter who managed to escape.
Hama: A student was killed inside the university dormitory by unknown gunmen
The city of Hama was shaken by a horrific crime in which a 22-year-old student (L.A.) was killed after he was targeted by three bullets from a weapon equipped with a silencer at the entrance to the university dormitory.
According to information from the University Housing Department, the student (L.A.) was returning from taking his practical exam, when he was intercepted by a silver jeep, and unknown gunmen shot at him at close range.
The information stated that the student was transferred to the hospital in a critical condition, but he died despite attempts to save him, as the incident raised questions about the lack of security measures inside the campus, while the university has not issued any official statement so far.
Al-Ghab Plain: Two young men were injured in an armed attack
The village of Al-Khandaq in the Al-Ghab plain witnessed a new shooting incident, after two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle fired a machine gun at two young men who were standing in front of a food shop.
The attack resulted in varying injuries and they were taken to hospital, while one of them was described as critical as a result of a direct injury to the abdomen.
The attack is part of a series of similar attacks in the area in recent months, amid growing popular demands for the seizure of indiscriminate weapons, which have become a direct threat to residents.

Al-Zahraa Hospital in the city of Homs witnessed a state of tension after the death of a young man from the Bani Khalid tribe after he was hit by an ambulance belonging to the Health Directorate while carrying out an official mission in the eastern countryside.
According to preliminary data, the accident occurred while the young man was crossing the road suddenly, while the ambulance driver took the initiative to hand himself over to the competent authorities.
After the young man's body arrived at the hospital, a number of his relatives gathered in the hospital yard, which led to a state of tension and arguments before the security forces intervened to contain the situation.
