The International Forum on Syrian-Turkish Relations opened today, Saturday, at Damascus University, reviewing the shared intellectual and historical paths between Damascus and Anatolia, and the role of academic dialogue in deepening mutual understanding and exploring new horizons for cooperation in the fields of language, literature, history, and philosophy.

Participants in the first session, held in the conference hall of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities under the theme "Philosophical and Cultural Structure," discussed the shared heritage of science, culture, and memory, through research papers that evoked models of this heritage and discussed the transfer of ideas and their impact on different cultural environments.

For his part, Dr. Musa Kazim Arıgan, President of Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University of Social Sciences, presented a paper on the intellectual path connecting philosophical heritage with concepts of wisdom and the perfect man, shedding light on the implications of these concepts in reading the intellectual ties between Damascus and Anatolia.

Dr. Bakri Ala al-Din from the French Institute pointed to his research on the book "The Metaphysical Attractor to the Western Side in Solving the Problems of Sheikh Muhyi al-Din Ibn Arabi," which addressed the book as an introduction to studying the intellectual memory associated with Ibn Arabi's heritage and the debates his views sparked in the history of Islamic thought.

In the same context, Dr. Muhammad Ans Kala from Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University presented the contemporaneity of ethical heritage and the potential for reading textual heritage in light of present-day questions, while Dr. Muhammad Sadiq Ghor explored the transformations witnessed in Ibn Arabi's intellectual discourse and their impact on the intellectual and cultural field in Anatolia.

The forum's topics raised the importance of developing Syrian-Turkish cultural and academic relations, and transitioning them into sustainable cooperation programs encompassing scientific research, translation, publishing, and the exchange of researchers and students, alongside documenting heritage and protecting cultural and architectural memory.

The second session, dedicated to the axis of history and social life, addresses the historical foundations of Syrian-Turkish relations and social interactions between the two countries, including research on Ibn Tulun al-Salih, the newspaper "Ottoman Syria," customs and traditions in Deir Ezzor, and relations between Aleppo and Gaziantep.

The forum comes in the context of interest in exploring the historical and cultural extensions between Syria and Turkey, and is organized by the Union of Turkish Writers and Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University of Social Sciences, with support from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
