Al-Furat University in Raqqa resumes studies after 14-year hiatus
Al-Furat University's Raqqa branch resumed preparations for the new academic year at its main campus in Raqqa city next week, ending a 14-year suspension.

Al-Furat University's Raqqa branch resumed its preparations today, Tuesday, in anticipation of opening the new academic year at its main campus in Raqqa city at the beginning of next week, following a suspension lasting approximately 14 years. The administration has taken all necessary measures to ensure the launch of the educational process, including transferring files, records, and documents of former students from Al-Furat University in Deir Ezzor to the Raqqa branch, as well as rehabilitating and maintaining all university buildings and facilities.

For his part, Ans Haj Zidan, director of the Raqqa branch of Al-Furat University, told the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that the educational process has already begun at the beginning of this week in the faculties of Pharmacy, Sciences, and Agriculture. He indicated that student enrollment in the remaining faculties of Law, Economics, Education, and Arts, as well as the institutes affiliated with the university, will take place at the beginning of next week. Haj Zidan pointed out the opening of a new institute, the Engineering Institute, in addition to the five previous institutes, calling on students to adhere to attendance.

For their part, several students expressed their satisfaction with the return of the university to its main campus in Raqqa after years of absence. Students Muhammad Al-Tajir and Muhammad Al-Abadi explained that the presence of the university in their governorate significantly contributed to reducing living costs and housing expenses, as well as alleviating the burden of traveling to other governorates. Al-Furat University's Raqqa branch includes the faculties of Arts, Sciences, Education, Civil Engineering, Agriculture, and Pharmacy, in addition to the recently established faculties of Law and Economics.

The university also includes six technical institutes: Agriculture, Veterinary, Commercial, Computer, and Irrigation, along with the newly established Engineering Institute, as well as an Open Education Center and a Center for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers. This step comes within the framework of rehabilitating the educational infrastructure in the region and providing higher education opportunities for local residents without the need for relocation.
