Al-Halabi Discusses with Syrian Doctors Union in France Expanding EBUS Centers
Minister of Higher Education discusses with Syrian Doctors Union in France expanding bronchoscopy centers and developing specialized diploma.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Marwan Al-Halabi held talks today, Tuesday, with a delegation from the Union of Syrian Doctors and Pharmacists in France, led by Union Vice President Ismail Mutaaw, on ways to expand the Union's support for Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) centers and develop specialized medical training programs in university hospitals.

The two sides discussed during the meeting held at the Ministry building in Damascus, enhancing support provided to the Endobronchial Ultrasound center at Latakia University Hospital, and working to open similar centers at Al-Mowasat University Hospital and National University Hospital in Damascus, paving the way for expanding their establishment in other governorates.

The meeting addressed the possibility of developing the Diploma of Bronchoscopy and Interventional Diagnostics in Chest Diseases, aiming to qualify doctors and hone their expertise through training programs in university hospitals in Latakia and Damascus. Al-Halabi emphasized the importance of enhancing sustainable cooperation with the Union, appreciating its efforts in organizing the medical conference in Deir Ezzor and establishing an Endobronchial Ultrasound department at Latakia University Hospital.

Head of the Chest Diseases Committee in the Union, Khader Al-Agha, clarified that the proposed diploma includes two main sections: Internal Chest Medicine and Thoracic Surgery, noting that Professor Jalal Al-Aswad will take responsibility for the surgical section, while the Union's Chest Committee will oversee the chest section.

Al-Agha pointed out that the Union seeks to establish a training center in Damascus combining theoretical and practical training, with university hospitals in the capital implementing the practical part of the program. He added that the Union plans to organize medical and surgical campaigns in April of next year, targeting the governorates of Daraa, Quneitra, and As-Suwayda, in coordination with the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Health.

The Union of Syrian Doctors and Pharmacists in France is a syndical and scientific umbrella that brings together Syrian medical and pharmaceutical talents residing in France, working to represent them before French institutions, support the health sector, and enhance scientific and professional cooperation between its members and health authorities in Syria and France.

The Syrian-French Medical Conference began on the 17th of this month at the Badia Al-Sham Hotel in Deir Ezzor, organized by the Union in cooperation with "Mihad" and the "French Relief for Syria" organizations.
