A Historic Anniversary for the Club
The Saudi Al-Ittihad first football team returned from the Qatari capital Doha in 1983 carrying the Gulf Club Cup title, becoming the first external title in the history of Saudi clubs after defeating Kuwaiti Al-Arabi in the final match held at Khalifa International Stadium.
Players' Paths After Retirement
Omar Bakhshwin moved into administrative and coaching work, where he supervised the Saudi youth national team between 2010 and 2018 before being appointed manager of the Saudi national team. Meanwhile, Muhammad Marwan Al-Shihah ended his career in 1415 AH following the King of the Two Holy Mosques Cup League final against Al-Shabab, and later transitioned to work as an analyst and media commentator on Al-Ittihad's situation.
Administrative and Media Affiliations
Saleh Khalifa maintained his connection to the club after retiring in 1990, participating in administrative meetings with Al-Ittihad's management in 2025, and providing comments on the team's participation in Gulf tournaments. Salman Al-Namshan worked in Al-Ittihad's administration for several seasons, while Mubarak Al-Dosari, Adil Khudayr, Adil Al-Saleh, Sami Jasim, Issa Khalifa, Muhammad Mubarak Abu Haidar, and Jamal Muhammad preferred to stay away from the sports and media circles.
Return to Gulf Competitions
Al-Ittihad returns this season to the Gulf Club Champions League within Group 3, which includes Kuwaiti Kazma, UAE's Ajman, and Iraqi Erbil. The team will host its counterpart Kazma at its stadium in Dammam to open the competitions.
