Al-Rifai: Al-Nassr match postponement decision lacks legal basis
Legal expert Al-Rifai criticizes AFC's vague postponement of Al-Nassr vs Al-Wasl as baseless and unfair.

Dr. Ayman Al-Rifai, legal advisor and former head of the Discipline and Ethics Committee at the Saudi Football Federation, stated that the Asian Football Confederation's decision to postpone Al-Nassr's match against UAE's Al-Wasl in the Elite Asian Champions League is not based on any regulation or legal text, describing the decision as general and ambiguous.

In the same context, Al-Rifai clarified that all conditions are suitable for organizing the match from all aspects, with nothing hindering its play. He pointed out that not playing the match or a team's refusal to do so must be within the regulations governing the tournament, and there is no text supporting Al-Wasl's position to apologize or the AFC's approval of the postponement without notifying the other team.

For his part, Al-Rifai indicated that Al-Nassr's position is largely legal, especially since the Saudi Federation expressed full readiness to support and provide all evidence proving the club's stance. However, he noted that the AFC's stance towards Saudi clubs is known for being negative and unjust, referring to previous cases with Persepolis and Al-Hilal.

The AFC announced on Sunday the rescheduling of Al-Nassr's match against their guest Al-Wasl, originally scheduled for Monday at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh, as part of the third round of the Elite Asian Champions League, noting that the new date will be announced in due course.
