Construction and preparation works continue at the Aramco Stadium project located in Al-Khobar province, as it approaches its final stages in preparation for its anticipated inauguration in the coming weeks. A field tour monitored by Al-Riyadhiah on Thursday revealed the scale of completion in the engineering project, which set a world record in the Guinness Book of Records by operating 92 tower cranes simultaneously at a single construction site, a move that contributed to accelerating the pace of work and completing the main concrete structures.
Infrastructure and Design Details
The exterior facade designs of the project draw inspiration from the water swirls of the Arabian Gulf, reflecting a distinctive architectural identity that combines local character with modern engineering techniques. At the field level, field updates showed the completion of natural grass laying works, coinciding with the preparation of advanced cooling systems designed to enhance spectator comfort and improve the atmosphere inside the stands, which accommodate approximately 47,000 spectators, thereby supporting the hosting of major sporting matches and events in the region.
Sustainability and Media Facilities
On the sustainability front, the project relies on engineering solutions and building materials with low carbon emissions, including low-carbon concrete that contributes to reducing emissions by approximately 17,000 metric tons, along with advanced water recycling and reuse systems, as part of the project's efforts to obtain the Platinum rating for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. Preparation works extended to media facilities, and the tour revealed the readiness of the press conference hall and the media center, equipped with digital infrastructure and modern communication technologies to support the requirements of local and international press coverage, production, and television broadcasting.
Recreational and Tourist Facilities
The visit revealed the outlines of hospitality and dining facilities overlooking the field, designed to provide a comprehensive experience for visitors and spectators, combining comfort with direct views of the green pitch. In the vicinity of the facility, development works continue on outdoor spaces and sports and recreational facilities, including a five-kilometer-long sports promenade, alongside football, padel, tennis, and basketball courts, as part of developing an integrated sports, community, and recreational destination serving all segments of society.
The new stadium is considered one of the most prominent anticipated sports projects in the Eastern Province, due to its unique architectural design and multi-purpose facilities, and its expected role in enhancing the region's status as a destination for hosting major sports and entertainment events. The advanced pace of work on the project reflects the continued preparations to equip the stadium according to international standards, paving the way for welcoming spectators and contributing to hosting the 2027 Asian Cup matches, thereby enhancing Saudi Arabia's presence on the global sports map.
