Al-Shenawy: Ramadan and El Awady dispute is an artistic competition
Al-Shenawy describes the dispute between Ramadan and El Awady as artistic competition, emphasizing that the real battlefield is the filming studio.

Art critic Tariq Al-Shenawy clarified that the controversy surrounding the recent posts by Egyptian artists Mohamed Ramadan and Ahmed El Awady does not go beyond the framework of artistic competition, considering that repeating such messages as the Ramadan drama season approaches reflects a desire to draw attention to new works.

Al-Shenawy pointed out that the real arena for competition among artists should be limited to the filming studio only, noting that such situations are not new, as last year witnessed a similar incident when El Awady posted a public message that was responded to by Amr Saad and then Mohamed Imam.

The art critic believed that stars of popular drama do not merely embody the character on screen, but their public image is linked to the idea of a hero who challenges others, which is clearly evident in the case of Ahmed El Awady, adding that Ramadan's return after a three-year absence raises the level of anticipation for his works.

Al-Shenawy stressed the importance of directing artists' energy towards their works, expressing his hope that competition does not turn into side battles away from artistic work, confirming that the real arena for confrontation is the filming studio, where every artist can utilize their creative abilities to present a work that meets their audience's expectations.

Al-Shenawy's reading comes in tandem with the controversy sparked by Ramadan and El Awady's posts on social media, after followers linked their statements to the anticipated competition in the Ramadan drama season 2027, amid questions about whether they carry mutual messages or are separate comments.

The controversy began with Mohamed Ramadan's announcement of his return to Ramadan drama after a three-year absence, as he wrote on his account: "3 years, I did everything I could... Now, Shshshshsh Ashmawi is here," referring to his new series "Ashmawi" after presenting the series "Jaafar Al-Omda" which aired in 2023.

The post did not go without interaction, as Ahmed El Awady posted a message saying: "The place you are returning to, we have branded it," which opened the door for public interpretations that linked the two posts and considered them mutual hints amid the stars' preparations to compete during the upcoming season.

These speculations come in tandem with El Awady's preparations for his new series "Sultan Al-Deib," scheduled to air in Ramadan 2027, turning the comparison between the two works into a focal point of discussion on social media, especially with the names of the two artists associated with popular roles that enjoy wide public following.

In contrast, El Awady had previously spoken about the nature of the relationship between him and Ramadan, affirming that what unites artists is professional competition, stating on the sidelines of his recognition at the Arab Media Festival that they are colleagues competing to present dramatic works that satisfy the audience.
