Foreign Minister and Expatriates Affairs Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shibani, during his participation in the 22nd session of the "Manama Dialogue 2026" conference, affirmed Syria's commitment to the diplomatic and negotiation option, considering it the best solution for establishing calm and secure relations with all parties. The minister, in an interview with "Sky News Arabia," pointed out that Israel has adopted an aggressive approach towards Syria and its people, manifested in launching thousands of raids and carrying out field provocation attempts.
For his part, Al-Shibani clarified that Syria has embarked on a negotiation path since the beginning of liberation, affirming its belief that US mediation aimed at stopping Israeli aggression could yield positive results for all parties. He noted that Syria is currently living through a new phase that differs from what it was 14, 50, or 60 years ago, stressing that this phase represents a source of inspiration and aspiration for the Syrian people to reclaim their homeland, freedom, and dignity.
Minister Al-Shibani added that he addressed the economic and developmental challenges facing Syria in the recovery and reconstruction phase, explaining that World Bank estimates indicate the country needs approximately $250 billion to rebuild what was destroyed by the war. The minister's statements come in the context of his participation in a session on the pillars of regional security within the summit's activities.
He pointed out that the "Manama Dialogue" summit is organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies, during the period from October 30 to November 1, 2026. The event features delegations from more than 50 countries, along with more than 40 high-level figures including ministers and senior military leaders, and high-level representatives from more than 10 international organizations.
