The American company Brick, specializing in digital wellness technologies, announced the launch of a new device named Brick Night, aimed at helping users limit excessive smartphone use before sleep.
The device is distinguished by its ability to automatically block specific applications when the phone enters the bedroom or a user-defined space, using Bluetooth technology to determine an effective spatial range, where the blocking range can be set to approximately 7 meters in length and width.
Automatic activation via location
The device operates using two CR2477 batteries and does not require recharging, relying on automatic activation via location detection as a key difference from the original version, which relied on Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.
The device allows users to choose the applications they wish to block instead of disabling the phone entirely, and it supports use by multiple people with the ability to customize independent settings for each, including blocked applications, times, and areas where blocking is activated.
Limiting nighttime usage
The launch of this device comes amid growing interest in limiting excessive smartphone use, especially during nighttime hours, as it allows users to restrict access to applications that may keep them awake.
The benefit of the device remains dependent on users choosing the appropriate applications and settings for their personal needs, according to the tech website The Verge.
