An American aged 60 has set a world record after watching 1,207 films in cinemas within one year, averaging more than three films daily, thereby entering the Guinness World Records.
The Guinness World Records website reported on October 30 that Glennwood Hoskin Jr. achieved this feat after spending a year visiting a local cinema in Pennsylvania, surpassing the previous record of 777 films. The US news agency UPI published additional details about his experience in a report released on November 2.
Experience Details
According to the report, Hoskin began his attempt in April 2024 and continued watching films until April 2025, relying on organizing his daily schedule according to showtimes. He would start early in the morning and sometimes continue until midnight to select the largest possible number of films.
Preferences and Relationships
Hoskin stated that he enjoyed the experience, which allowed him to leave home and practice his favorite hobby. He noted that he loves challenges and setting goals, and that advance planning made the task more enjoyable. Animated films and comedies were among his favorite genres, and he pointed out that watching comedies among an audience adds extra enjoyment.
The experience was not limited to watching films; Hoskin built friendly relationships with cinema staff, who sometimes helped him choose shorter shows. He also used to walk during breaks between films.
