Anthropic launches an intelligent agent to execute tasks and monitor apps
US company Anthropic releases 'Claude Duet' AI tool to help employees organize work and automate tasks.

US company Anthropic has launched a new artificial intelligence tool named "Claude Duet," aimed at helping employees and small business owners organize their daily work, track updates across connected apps, and automate a range of tasks.

Technical Capabilities

Reuters reported on Wednesday that the new agent is designed to operate proactively, monitoring information from connected apps, summarizing key updates, and alerting users to matters requiring attention. It relies on the "Claude Opus 5.5" AI model. The tool can perform various tasks, including scheduling meetings, preparing financial and sales forecasts, creating dashboards, developing web applications and prototypes, as well as compiling daily summaries of key updates.

Operational Mechanisms and Security

"Claude Duet" leverages the memory, skills, and applications associated with the "Claude" platform, using a virtual environment equipped with a browser to interact with digital services and execute a series of tasks according to user instructions. In terms of data protection, the tool requires user consent before executing sensitive actions, while its security systems include measures to limit the exposure of highly sensitive information, such as credit card numbers, with ongoing efforts to develop and strengthen these controls.

Availability and Limitations

The tool remains available in a research preview phase via a waitlist for "Pro" and "Max" subscribers in the United States. It may struggle to understand the context of some conversations or determine the importance of messages, and its performance in certain personal tasks, such as booking tickets, remains limited. The launch comes amid a growing trend among technology companies to develop AI agents capable of executing multiple tasks across apps, rather than limiting themselves to answering questions and generating content.
