Aoun promises Trump: The Lebanese state will implement the framework agreement
Jemaah Islamiyah calls for transparency and disclosure of annexes to the agreement

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun assured his US counterpart Donald Trump in a phone call that the Lebanese state will shoulder its responsibilities in implementing the framework agreement signed with Tel Aviv under US auspices.

In a statement published on Saturday evening, June 27, the Lebanese presidency said that Aoun expressed to Trump his hope that Washington would contribute to preventing any breach of the agreement and ensuring the fulfillment of all commitments, and expressed his hope that Washington would pressure Israel to withdraw from the territories it occupies in the south.

The statement noted that Aoun thanked Trump for his position in support of Lebanon, its legitimate authority, and its constitutional and security institutions.

On the other hand, Trump stressed that his country will contribute to supporting the Lebanese economy and legitimate security forces, and claimed that Washington will spare no effort to support Lebanon's sovereignty and extend the authority of the state with its armed forces.

Jemaah Islamiyah: Full sovereignty and unconditional withdrawal

The Islamic Group in Lebanon (GIA) announced its position on the framework agreement with Israel, affirming its adherence to clear national standards based on preserving full sovereignty and ensuring an unconditional Israeli withdrawal.

In a statement on  Saturday, it stressed  that the decision of war and peace must remain a responsible national decision under the roof of the state and its legitimate institutions, away from any external pressures or dictates.

The group believes that any discussion on the exclusivity of arms and the extension of state authority cannot be carried out under the pressure of the occupation or threat, but through a serious national dialogue that leads to a comprehensive defense strategy that enhances the army's ability to protect the borders and citizens, warning of the danger of linking the Israeli withdrawal to security conditions that can be postponed or interpreted, or interpreting any clause that restricts Lebanon's right to defend its rights in accordance with international law.

It stressed that the Israeli presence in the south must end because it is an occupation, not because it has been reassured of certain arrangements, demanding that the withdrawal be complete according to a clear timetable and binding international and Arab guarantees that constitute a starting point for any serious negotiation process.

The group called on the government to be transparent by disclosing texts and supplements, especially the security annex, verification mechanisms and the redeployment schedule, and presenting any major commitments to the competent constitutional institutions.

She concluded her position by emphasizing a clear equation: no emotional rejection that returns Lebanon to war and isolation, and no hasty acceptance that gives the enemy what it did not get by force, calling on political forces and national and religious authorities to avoid inflammatory rhetoric, and adhere to a comprehensive position that protects the state, safeguards rights, supports the army, and spends the country from strife.

Berri calls for staving off strife,  Hezbollah rejects agreement

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Saturday called on his country's citizens to ward off strife, after political differences between the parties over the framework agreement signed with Israel.

Media and parliamentarians in Lebanon saw the framework agreement signed with Israel as "historic and lifeline" for the country, while others saw it as a "gratuitous concession to the enemy", which sparked a state of controversy in the Arab country.

The Lebanese News Agency quoted Berri as saying: "My people in Lebanon, all of Lebanon, this is strife! Be in the fitnah like the son of the milkman, and he will not ride on the back and he will not be milked."

This phrase is attributed to Imam Ali bin Abi Talib, and it means isolation and not providing the opportunity for those who are lurking in fitnah, and the word "milk" refers to the young son of the camel, from whom people do not benefit either by riding or by drinking milk.

For his part, Hizbullah Secretary-General Naim Qassem called the framework agreement signed between Lebanon and Israel under the auspices of the United States a "terrible fall" and a "relinquishment of sovereignty", stressing that his party will treat it as non-existent and that the Lebanese state must retract what he described as "the sin that is destroying Lebanon".

Qassem stressed that any agreement must be based on the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory, refusing to link this withdrawal to internal files such as the resistance force or security arrangements.
