Arab League and GCC condemn Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia
Arab League and GCC renew condemnation of Houthi militia attacks on Saudi territory causing civilian casualties.

The Arab League and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) renewed their condemnation of Houthi militia attacks on Saudi territory, including the targeting of King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and the Shaybah oil field in the Eastern Region of Saudi Arabia the day before yesterday, which resulted in civilian casualties.

The Arab League, in a statement via its account on the "X" platform on Friday, expressed its "firm rejection of the continued attacks by the militia on Saudi territory, representing a violation of the Kingdom's sovereignty and a direct threat to its security, stability, and the safety of citizens and residents." The League emphasized that the repeated targeting of airports, oil facilities, and civilian sites constitutes a highly dangerous escalation, threatening civil aviation safety and energy security, and undermining regional and international efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and reaching a political settlement to the Yemeni crisis.

Arab-Gulf solidarity

The League renewed its expression of full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for the measures taken to protect its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, affirming that "the security of the Kingdom is an inseparable part of collective Arab security," and called on the international community to bear its responsibilities in stopping the attacks and preventing their recurrence. For his part, GCC Secretary-General Jassem Al-Buaidi emphasized in a statement on the Council's official website yesterday that "these attacks reflect the Houthi militia's determination to continue its criminal approach of targeting civilians and vital facilities."

Al-Buaidi renewed the GCC's full and steadfast solidarity with Saudi Arabia, standing by its side in facing everything that targets its security, sovereignty, and stability, and supporting it in all measures taken to protect its territory, citizens, and residents, and to safeguard its assets and vital facilities. The Saudi Ministry of Energy had announced the day before yesterday, Wednesday, the death of residents and the injury of two others, following the fall of fragments resulting from intercepting a drone that attempted to target one of the plants in the Shaybah oil field owned by Aramco. Meanwhile, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation announced later the death of one resident and the injury of eight others, following an attack targeting King Fahd International Airport in Dammah.
