A specialized art workshop on acrylic and resin pouring techniques, held yesterday Sunday at the Abu Rummanah Cultural Center in Damascus, gave participants the opportunity to discover contemporary methods of working with colors and materials. The workshop was organized under the supervision of visual artist Susan Al-Saadi, who combined theoretical knowledge with practical application to teach the participants.
Technique relying on color interaction
Visual artist Susan Al-Saadi explained that the workshop aims to introduce students to the acrylic pouring technique, which involves mixing acrylic colors with glue and water, then pouring them onto canvases to form diverse color compositions. She pointed out that the success of this technique is linked to the way colors are distributed and interact, noting that what appears random is based on deliberate choices that contribute to achieving harmony and visual balance.
Beauty in the work's impact
For her part, trainee Qamar Bina noted that the workshop provided her with the opportunity to learn a technique different from traditional painting styles and to discover new ways of working with colors. She explained that practical applications offered the chance to closely follow the stages of work and learn the mechanisms of mixing, pouring, and directing the movement of colors to achieve diverse aesthetic results.
An experience to discover new styles
Al-Saadi added that using additional colors and materials, including those with a golden effect, gives the canvas more depth and shine, and expands expressive options for participants. The workshop falls within the activities organized by the Damascus Directorate of Culture in cultural centers, to provide learning and experimentation opportunities and introduce enthusiasts to contemporary artistic techniques that contribute to developing their skills.
