A delegation from the Atomic Energy Authority, led by the Authority's head Mider Al-Aqila and including the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mohammed Suweid, visited Malaysia. During the visit, they discussed with the Malaysian Nuclear Agency and several academic institutions ways to enhance scientific and technical cooperation, exchange expertise, and expand academic study opportunities for Syrian students.

Enhancing Scientific and Research Cooperation

The Authority stated via its Telegram channel on Wednesday that the delegation held meetings at the headquarters of the Malaysian Nuclear Agency, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. The meetings covered mechanisms for exchanging expertise and developing bilateral relations in the fields of peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and enhancing scientific and research cooperation.

Academic Opportunities for Syrian Students

The delegation visited the National University of Malaysia (UKM) and discussed with officials the potential for establishing academic partnerships with Malaysian universities. They also reviewed the postgraduate programs offered by the Faculty of Science and Technology, aiming to provide opportunities for Syrian students to pursue their studies in nuclear and technical fields at Malaysian universities.

The visit also included a tour of an exhibition of student activities and projects, where the delegation reviewed examples of scientific and technical projects and student innovations, as well as activities aimed at encouraging innovation and scientific research.

The visit comes within the framework of efforts by the Atomic Energy Authority and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to enhance cooperation with international scientific and academic institutions, and to benefit from expertise in the fields of peaceful nuclear technology and scientific research, and to develop opportunities for academic qualification and expertise exchange, thereby contributing to building national scientific capabilities.
