Attack on Jaramana checkpoint in Damascus countryside: 3 security personnel were injured and one attacker was killed
Renewed tension on the ground in Sweida

Three members of the Internal Security Forces were wounded on Friday, following an armed attack that targeted a security checkpoint at the entrance to the city of Jaramana in Damascus countryside, while the incident resulted in the death of one of the perpetrators and the arrest of the other person who was with him.

A security source said  in a statement to SANA that the checkpoint agents stopped a motorcycle carrying two people this morning to verify their identity, before the confrontation began after one of them withdrew his weapon and fired.

Details of the explosion and the arrest of the perpetrator

The security source explained that the attacker first fired several bullets in the air, then threw two hand grenades at the checkpoint officers, causing the three injuries.

The source pointed out that the attacker tried to throw a third hand grenade, but it exploded in his hands, killing him immediately, as it was later found after the body was transferred and identified that he was wanted for murder and drug trafficking, while the security forces were able to arrest his companion and start investigations to uncover the circumstances.

Targeting security points in Sweida

Local media reported  that a new and parallel security tension was recorded in Sweida governorate, after armed groups described as "outlaws" targeted ISF outposts with heavy machine guns.

According to security sources, heavy gunfire was concentrated at security sites in the Tal Hadid area, west of Suwayda governorate, without immediate official details determining the extent of the human or material losses resulting from the attack.

Clashes in the western countryside

Media sources indicated that  direct casualties were recorded in the ranks of the so-called "National Guard", following the targeting of their points and positions by the Internal Security Forces in the western countryside of Sweida.

These successive developments on the ground come despite the ceasefire agreement that has been in place in the province since July 2025, which was previously concluded to end bloody clashes between Bedouin tribes and local  groups that resulted in hundreds of casualties.
