Awareness lecture in Harasta on early detection of breast cancer
Harasta Health Zone and Grass Association organize educational lecture within Pink October to raise awareness about early breast cancer detection.

The Harasta Health Zone in the Damascus countryside, in cooperation with the Grass Association, held an educational lecture today, Tuesday, on the importance of early detection of breast cancer and ways of prevention and treatment, in one of the city's halls, as part of the Pink October activities.

Raising awareness of the importance of early detection

The Director of the Damascus Countryside Health, Dr. Tawfiq Hisaba, clarified in a statement to a SANA correspondent that the event comes within the activities of the Ministry of Health during Pink October, in coordination between the Harasta Health Zone, the Grass Association, and the local community, with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer and guiding women on the steps to follow when symptoms requiring examination are suspected.

Hisaba pointed out that early detection contributes to improving chances of recovery and survival, reducing potential complications, as well as lowering the costs of complementary treatments. He noted that the campaign's activities are not limited to awareness lectures, but also include following up on cases that visit health centers, the measures taken regarding them, and the mechanism for referring them to hospitals and completing their treatment when necessary.

Grass Association's health care programs

For her part, Administrative Director at the Grass Association, Mona Nemo, stated in a similar statement that the Association implements programs in the health field, especially those related to the care of women and children, through eight fixed centers and six mobile teams in the Damascus countryside and Quneitra.

Nemo pointed out that the Association works to raise awareness of the importance of breast cancer detection throughout the year, intensifying lectures and guidance activities during October, given the role of early detection in enhancing recovery chances and improving treatment outcomes.

Participation of specialized cadres in awareness

For his part, Head of the Harasta Health Zone, Dr. Louay Ibrahim, explained to SANA that the zone received women at its health centers, where specialized female doctors and midwives conducted the necessary examinations for visitors, and provided them with guidance and awareness regarding the importance of early detection and the necessity of performing mammography according to medical assessment.

Ibrahim noted that the event saw the participation of specialized doctors and female doctors in the prevention and early detection of breast tumors, along with the health zone's cadres who provided the necessary information and guidance to women, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with the Grass Association and the local community to ensure the success of health activities and enhance their benefits.

October of each year is dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer and encouraging women to undergo periodic examinations and early detection, given its role in increasing the chances of successful treatment and improving its results.

The Ministry of Health launched the national campaign for early detection of breast cancer on October 7 under the slogan "Earlier screening... Greater hope," with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of regular screening and expanding access to detection, diagnosis, and treatment services.
