Baniyas Port Receives 15 Oil Tankers to Meet Provincial Needs
The Baniyas oil port continues receiving and unloading oil product tankers to ensure continuous supply and meet the needs of provinces and fuel stations.

The Baniyas oil port continues its operations of receiving and unloading oil product tankers, as part of efforts to ensure the continuity of supplies and meet the needs of provinces and fuel stations. Jamil Wahoud, head of the guidance and tanker mooring department at the Syrian Petroleum Company, confirmed that there are 15 tankers loaded with oil products at the port, including 9 gasoline tankers and 6 diesel tankers.

Inspection Procedures and Specifications

Wahoud pointed out that the unloading process begins after completing the contact procedures and taking samples in coordination with the General Authority of Ports, where samples are inspected to ensure they meet the required specifications. The tanker is allowed to proceed with procedures if the results are compliant, while it is rejected if they do not meet the specifications.

Operation Time and Distribution

Wahoud explained that mooring tankers takes about four to five hours before starting to pump oil products into the Syrian Petroleum Company's tanks, with the aim of transporting and distributing them to provinces and filling stations. The work and pumping cycle takes about 12 hours, and may extend to more than 24 hours on average, with quantities starting to reach the provinces the day after pumping begins.

Continuous Work and Comprehensive Maintenance

Regarding the availability of oil products, Wahoud confirmed that work at the port continues without interruption, noting that mooring and unloading tankers proceed sequentially. The Syrian Petroleum Company announced yesterday, Monday, that it had begun mooring and unloading a diesel tanker with a capacity of 16,000 tons at the aerial warehouses in Baniyas. Baniyas Refinery is currently undergoing comprehensive maintenance, aiming to improve its operational efficiency and increase its production capacity from about 80,000 to 130,000 barrels per day.
