Raphinha returned to score his second and third goals for his team in the 41st minute, before Lamine Yamal completed the first-half goals by scoring the fourth in the first minute of added time with a direct shot from outside the penalty area.
Completing the victory
Barcelona continued their attacking pressure in the second half, with Yamal adding the fifth goal in the 64th minute after a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, before Englishman Anthony Gordon completed the six with a shot over the goalkeeper in the 81st minute.
Mariano Diaz managed to score Alaves' only goal in the 84th minute with a shot from inside the penalty area following an individual effort.
Regaining top spot
The Catalan team quickly regained its balance after its loss to Real Madrid in the previous round, returning to the top of the standings after raising its tally to 30 points, two points ahead of Atletico Madrid, while Alaves remained stuck at 12 points in 10th place.
The result represents a morale boost for Barcelona ahead of their match against English Aston Villa next Tuesday in the fourth round of the Champions League at the "Camp Nou" stadium.
