Valuable away victory
The Turkish team Besiktas continued its strong start in the UEFA Europa League, returning with a valuable 3-2 victory over German host Hoffenheim on Thursday at the "Neckar Arena", in the second round of the league phase. The Turkish side raised its tally to 6 points, after starting its campaign with a comprehensive 4-1 win against French guests Olympique Marseille, placing it fourth on goal difference behind leaders Juventus and followed by Bayer Leverkusen and Benfica.
Hyun-gyu Oh the architect of the win
Besiktas owes its victory to its South Korean striker Hyun-gyu Oh, who stole the spotlight with his involvement in all three goals, scoring two and assisting one, leading his team to secure three valuable points away from home. The first half ended goalless, before Panamanian defender Amir Murillo opened the scoring for Besiktas in the 60th minute with a close-range shot, benefiting from a short pass from Hyun-gyu Oh.
Consecutive goals and sealing the match
Hoffenheim responded with an equalizer in the 68th minute through Kosovar player Visnik Aslani, who fired a right-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area, following a decisive pass from Tim Lemperle. The Turkish team did not take long to regain the lead, just four minutes later, as Hyun-gyu Oh scored the second goal in the 72nd minute with a right-footed shot from the left side of the penalty area, following a quick counter-attack finished off with a pass from Benin's Junior Olaitan. The Korean striker confirmed his brilliance by scoring his second personal goal and the third for his team in the 79th minute, strengthening Besiktas' lead and bringing them closer to sealing the match. Japanese player Koki Machida reduced the deficit for Hoffenheim in the 88th minute, but his goal was not enough to avoid defeat, allowing Besiktas to leave with a valuable victory that boosted its tally to 6 points at the start of its continental campaign.
