The Damascus countryside Health Directorate, in cooperation with official and civil entities, held a blood donation campaign today, Monday, at the Eastern Health Center in Jobar city. This initiative aims to strengthen blood bank reserves and secure essential needs for patients, especially those suffering from chronic diseases, thalassemia, and leukemia.
Damascus countryside Health Director Dr. Tawfiq Hissab explained in a statement to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that the campaign falls within the Ministry of Health's plan to support the strategic blood reserve. He noted that campaigns continue throughout the week in various areas of Damascus countryside, organized in coordination with Civil Defense, the Red Crescent, and civil associations.
For his part, Salim Al-Maghribi, a member of the Executive Office of Jobar City Council, emphasized that broad community participation reflects the importance of cooperation between institutions. He pointed to a tendency to organize similar campaigns periodically. He also called on donor Omar Azam and others to take the initiative to support patients and meet their treatment needs.
The city of Douma in Damascus countryside recently witnessed a similar campaign at its national hospital, organized by the Health Directorate in cooperation with official and civil entities to support reserves and meet patient needs.
