The Busra al-Sham Municipality in eastern Daraa countryside completed today, Sunday, the implementation of a wide-ranging service project in cooperation with service authorities and the Civil Defense in the governorate, in preparation for the winter season. The project included cleaning road drains and sewage channels, rehabilitating manhole covers, and distributing new garbage bins in various main and secondary neighborhoods in the city.
The Council President, Engineer Abdullah Al-Miqdad, explained that the project comes within the priorities of service work with the beginning of this year's rainfall, as technical workshops completed the assigned works on time. All critical points in the city were covered after sensory and practical inspection and rehabilitation and restoration, to ensure the absorption of high water volumes and prevent the formation of floods that hinder the movement of citizens and vehicles.
Rehabilitation of Manholes and Enhancement of the Cleanliness System
Al-Miqdad pointed out that the Council attached special importance to the file of exposed manholes by installing durable concrete and metal covers instead of those that were stolen or damaged, while rehabilitating inspection rooms to preserve public safety. In this same context, the Council received the second batch of new garbage bins from the Provincial Council, after receiving the first batch in July of this year, and they are being distributed successively to neighborhoods with high population density.
Civil Defense Confirms Readiness
For his part, the commander of the Civil Defense team in the Busra al-Sham area, Abdul Aziz Muhammad, outlined the team's efforts to support the project by assisting the Council's workshops in clearing and dredging operations, especially in historical roads and slopes. He affirmed the high readiness to deal with any emergency during the winter season, calling on citizens to contribute to maintaining the drains and not throwing waste into them.
Many residents expressed satisfaction with what has been accomplished, emphasizing the importance of cleaning drains before rainfall intensifies. The Busra al-Sham Municipality seeks, through periodic and seasonal campaigns in cooperation with public authorities and the local community, to rehabilitate public facilities commensurate with the city's historical and tourist status.
