Camara joins Haas in Formula 1 for 2027
Haas announces signing of Brazilian Rafael Camara to drive for the team starting in the 2027 season.

The American Haas F1 team announced that Brazilian Rafael Camara will drive for the team starting in 2027, following the announcement of the departure of French driver Esteban Ocon in late September.

The 21-year-old Brazilian driver said in a press statement issued by Haas: "My move to the team is an important step in my career. I will now focus on preparing as best as possible so that I am ready to face this new challenge. There will be a lot for me to learn, and I am excited to embark on this experience."

Camara currently leads the Formula 2 championship standings and has been a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2021. The Brazilian achieved five victories this season and stood on the podium six times in Formula 2 with Invicta Racing, after being crowned Formula 3 champion in 2025 with Trident.

For his part, Ayao Komatsu, Haas team principal, clarified that he is excited about the Brazilian driver joining the American team, adding: "I am very excited to sign an exceptional young talent, whose results in the lower categories have been impressive."

With his move to Haas, Camara forms a pair with British driver Oliver Bearman, who is also 21 years old and a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy. Next year, for the first time since 2016, when Brazilians Felipe Massa (Williams driver) and Felipe Nasr (Sauber driver) competed, Brazil will once again have two drivers in the top tier of motorsport: Camara and Gabriel Bortoleto, whom Audi confirmed signing in September.

Haas sits seventh out of 11 in the constructors' standings with 30 points after the Singapore Grand Prix, held last weekend. The next Grand Prix will take place from October 23 to 25 in Austin, United States.
