A new encounter in Al-Mujma'ah
Brazilian coach Fabio Carille, manager of Al-Wehda's first football team, returns to face Al-Ahli Club when his team hosts them at 06:05 PM on Monday. The match takes place at the Al-Mujma'ah Sports City stadium, as part of the tenth round of the Saudi Pro League.
Carille's record against Al-Ahli
The Brazilian coach possesses extensive experience in Saudi stadiums, having previously led Al-Ittihad during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. He also coached Al-Dir'iyah last season before taking charge of Al-Wehda at the start of the current season. Prior to tonight's match, Carille faced Al-Ahli five times, achieving one win and one draw, while suffering three defeats, with his players scoring four goals against seven for his opponent.
Memory of the historic win with Al-Ittihad
The first encounter between Carille and Al-Ahli ended in a 1-2 defeat for Al-Ittihad in the Jeddah derby, with Abdulilah Al-Maliki scoring Al-Ittihad's only goal, while Omar Soma scored two for Al-Ahli. Carille vividly remembers his second match with Al-Ittihad, where he led his team to their first victory over Al-Ahli after an absence of nearly eight seasons since 2012 in the Saudi Pro League, winning 2-0 in the third round.
Continued struggles in recent years
Goals were scored in that match by Brazilian Romarinho and Cape Verdean Gary Rodriguez, while the match saw the debut of Egyptian Ahmed Hegazy. The second half ended in a 1-1 draw. Al-Ittihad's last league victory over Al-Ahli dated back to March 29, 2012, before the two teams played 16 consecutive matches without a win for Al-Ittihad, with Al-Ahli winning nine and drawing seven. After Carille took over technical management of Al-Dir'iyah in 2026, he played two matches against Al-Ahli, losing both with scores of 0-1 and 0-3.
