Iran's armed forces announced at dawn on Thursday that they had carried out attacks against US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.

In response to the US attack on some IRGC units and its coastal positions and the Police and Security Command at Bandar Abbas Airport, the Iranian military said in a statement, "IRGC air force fighters and its naval heroes were able to target and destroy 18 important US military targets at Ali Salem and Ahmed Al Jaber Air Bases (Kuwait), as well as Sheikh Isa Air Base (Bahrain), during two waves of operations."

Iran denies Trump's allegations

Trump told Fox News that Iranian leaders had called him directly on the phone and asked him to stop the wave of U.S. bombing that was underway.

But Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) quickly denied that Iran had asked Trump to stop the bombing, according to the official IRNA news agency, saying that "Trump's claim that Iranian officials contacted him is strongly rejected and constitutes a cover to escape the war."

Iranian television also quoted  a  senior official as confirming that "US President Donald Trump's false claim about Iranian officials' contact with him is a cover for evading the war."
