China urges Washington to end Cuba embargo and stop interfering in its affairs
China calls on the US to lift the Cuba embargo and cease interference in its internal affairs under the guise of human rights.

China has called on the United States to end the embargo and sanctions imposed on Cuba, and to stop interfering in China's internal affairs and hindering its development under the guise of human rights, reaffirming its commitment to defending the sovereignty, rights, and legitimate interests of nations.

Xinhua News Agency quoted Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun as saying during a press conference on Thursday: "The UN General Assembly has adopted successive resolutions by a large majority since 1992 calling for the end of the economic, trade, and financial embargo imposed by the United States on Cuba, following its adoption on Wednesday of a new resolution condemning the embargo imposed on the island for decades."

He affirmed that his country will continue to support Cuba in defending its sovereignty, opposing foreign interference and the embargo imposed on it, calling on Washington to respond to the international community's appeal and immediately end the embargo and sanctions, and to stop exerting pressure on Cuba, including the use of force.

In a separate context, the Chinese spokesperson urged the United States to stop interfering in China's internal affairs and hindering its development under the guise of human rights, in response to a US move targeting the inclusion of several Chinese companies on a list of firms accused by Washington of "forced labor" in the Xinjiang region.

He stressed that China will take necessary measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies in the face of US actions.

It is worth noting that China called on the United States on September 12 to cease all espionage activities against it, expressing deep concern over statements by a senior official from the US Central Intelligence Agency regarding the consideration of Chinese companies as legitimate targets for espionage.
