Official data released by the General Administration of Customs of China showed that the value of Chinese ship exports grew by 24.6 percent during the first nine months of the current year, mainly driven by a significant increase in liquid carrier exports.
According to what the Chinese news agency "Xinhua" reported on Sunday, the value of Chinese ship exports reached about 358.92 billion yuan "approximately 53.75 billion US dollars" during the period between January and September last year, while the number of exported ships rose by 1.6 percent to reach 5,083 ships.
Liquid carriers emerged as a key driver of ship export growth during the aforementioned period, as the number of exported ships of this type rose by 76.7 percent to reach 394 ships, while the value of their exports jumped by 140.1 percent to reach about 140.66 billion yuan.
In the same context, the value of bulk cargo ship exports reached about 75.35 billion yuan, an increase of 35.7 percent year-on-year, despite their number rising by only 2.1 percent to reach 391 ships, while the value of container ship exports fell by 16.3 percent to about 56.94 billion yuan, and their number also decreased by 11.3 percent to 118 ships.
For his part, an official at the agency said during a press conference held recently: "Exports of both 300,000-ton oil tankers and liquefied petroleum gas ships and liquefied natural gas ships achieved double-digit growth during the first three quarters of the current year, adding that ships operating on green fuels, such as methanol and ammonia, continue to develop and upgrade, thereby enhancing global energy transport capabilities."
China's exports of crude oil products rose by 39.4 percent year-on-year in September last month, coinciding with the repercussions of the Middle East war and disruptions in global energy supplies, according to data from the General Administration of Customs of China published on the 18th of the current month.
