Aleppo Governor Azam al-Gharrab inaugurated the Civil Affairs Directorate in the city of Afrin in northern Aleppo today, Monday, after its relocation to a new headquarters, aiming to improve the reality of services provided to residents, facilitate the completion of their transactions, and reduce the burdens of travel and commuting.
Al-Gharrab clarified in a statement to SANA that the new location is larger, with a capacity of approximately 800 visitors per day, which will have a direct and positive impact on citizens' lives and end their suffering and the cost of traveling to the center of Aleppo to complete their official documents.
The Aleppo governor pointed out that this step is the culmination of joint efforts between the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Civil Affairs Directorate in Aleppo, and the Afrin region administration, emphasizing that it falls within a series of practical measures and steps implemented by the Civil Affairs Directorate sequentially to open more centers to serve citizens in the best possible manner.
For his part, Muhammad al-Shawakh, Director of Civil Affairs in Aleppo Governorate, confirmed that services were previously confined to a small hall that was insufficient for the purpose, whereas the new headquarters is equipped with a spacious hall accommodating larger numbers of visitors and includes a qualified workforce to provide various transactions.
He noted that the headquarters has been supplied with the best logistical facilities, including air conditioning systems, corridors and entrances designated for people with special needs, and large and sufficient waiting areas, ensuring the provision of services in the best manner in the coming period.
Several residents of Afrin also expressed their satisfaction with the opening of the new headquarters and its expansion. Citizen Luqman Sulayman pointed out that the return and activation of civil registry work locally holds utmost importance after a long period of difficulties resulting from the previous transfer of records and the suspension of the registration of many vital civil events such as marriage, births, deaths, and the issuance of identity documents.
Sulayman emphasized that opening the center in its current location within the city allows residents to resolve all their pending files and records with ease, in addition to saving travel expenses and the burdens of traveling to Aleppo directorates.
