Civil initiatives in the town of Al-Soura in eastern Daraa countryside contributed to rehabilitating service and educational facilities, responding to the increase in population numbers after liberation, in cooperation with government authorities within efforts aimed at improving infrastructure and meeting residents' needs in the fields of education and drinking water.
The mayor of Al-Soura, Engineer Zahir Al-Hariri, clarified that the local community completed the restoration of Al-Soura Official High School over the past two months, and prepared three water wells and connected them to the golden line exempt from rationing, which contributes to improving the service reality and alleviating burdens on residents.
For his part, teacher Murad Al-Hariri, representing the local community, confirmed that civil initiatives contributed to the restoration and full rehabilitation of Al-Soura High School, through the implementation of construction and restoration works that returned the school to service and receiving students, after it had been out of use.
Al-Hariri pointed out that the local community, in cooperation with the "Abishri Horan" campaign, dug three new water wells and lined two others to secure drinking water for residents, while the General Water Authority provided the necessary pipes to operate the wells.
He added that the local council recently secured a 100 kilovolt-ampere electrical transformer from the Daraa Electricity Company, while the local community covered the costs of pouring foundations and digging the necessary lines for its installation and connection to the town's public network.
Al-Hariri called on the relevant authorities in the governorate to take into account the population increase in the town and enhance service and institutional support, noting that a large percentage of residents belong to low-income families that require continuous support from state institutions.
These initiatives reflect the role of civil work and social solidarity in supporting basic services, contributing to the rehabilitation of public facilities, and improving living conditions, which helps meet residents' needs and enhance stability in the town.
