The General Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater in Idlib Governorate, in cooperation with the Jisr al-Shughur district administration, announced the completion of a new 850-meter main water line in the northern district of the city. This comes after years of long-standing hardship for residents dealing with the dilapidated old network and reliance on tankers to meet their daily needs.
Engineer Mohannad al-Ahmad, director of the Jisr al-Shughur Water Unit, stated in an interview with SANA correspondent today, Tuesday, that the project extends from the northern district tank to the Abassi roundabout and the Cement Company. It aims to reduce waste in the old network, supplying approximately 2,500 households. He noted that the line will continue with a diameter of 90 mm in the future to reach the Ahras Press.
In the same context, Ahmad pointed to ongoing work to construct another main line measuring 1,600 meters, connecting the tank of the new National Hospital to the Latakia roundabout and the train station. Meanwhile, residents of the district confirmed that this new achievement helps end their suffering and improve the drinking water situation, especially with the return of thousands of families and increased pressure on infrastructure.
