Participants emphasized the importance of implementing this project to reduce production costs and enhance the competitiveness of Syrian products in local and foreign markets.
Updating Laboratories and Specifications
Industrialists also discussed the state of standard specifications and sample analysis mechanisms, calling for the necessity of updating laboratories at the Testing Center to keep pace with technological developments in products.
They stressed the need to establish official specifications for products lacking them, especially certain types of paints, to address issues related to regulating factory operations.
Calls for Reducing Customs Duties
Regarding customs duties, industrialists renewed their calls to reduce duties imposed on raw materials used in paint, sanitary paper, and veterinary medicine industries.
They called for raising duties on imported finished products, particularly ready-made glass material, to protect local production from dumping and enhance the competitiveness of national industries.
