Workshops and technical teams at Damascus Rural Electricity Company continue intensive field operations around the clock to repair faults caused by the rainstorm that hit the province last Tuesday, affecting several medium-voltage outlets supplying various areas of the province.
The company’s media office told the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) on Wednesday that affected areas included Zuqaq al-Bloud, Sayyida Zainab, Artauz, Douma, Jaramana, Daraya, Sahyunia, Eastern Ghouta areas, Kessab, Tall, Qudsaya, Qatifa, and Neshabiyah.
The media office confirmed that repair work priorities always target electricity outlets supplying water wells to ensure the continuity of basic services for subscribers, with field staff continuing work without interruption until all outlets are repaired and electrical supply is fully restored to all areas.
Regarding the timeframe for restoring power, the office clarified that the estimated time depends directly on the nature of the fault. Workshops have already restored some outlets to service, both aerial and underground, whose maintenance was completed, while inspection and technical excavation processes continue to repair remaining damaged cables and underground outlets.
The media office noted that work is ongoing to repair faults, despite some of these outlets suffering from wear and tear due to neglect the province experienced in previous years, as well as excessive loads.
It is recalled that the weather conditions and the rainstorm that Damascus Rural Province experienced last Tuesday caused 76 medium-voltage outlets to go out of service, leading to power cuts in scattered areas of the province.
