Damascus University launched its new website and the guide for managing websites, social media accounts, and instant messaging applications, designed and developed by the Syrian company Cani Tech for Technology and Information, on Sunday at the university's auditorium in Damascus. The event was attended by Dr. Ahmad Zaidan, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Media Affairs.
Zaidan clarified in a statement to SANA that the launch of the Damascus University website represents a step towards digital transformation in Syria in general, and in the university in particular. He explained that the website facilitates students' access to information and services. Zaidan said: "Every student should feel that this website belongs to them, and therefore interacting with it raises the university's level and standard, and introduces it at the global and Arab levels." He emphasized that the university's academic level is reflected through its students' interaction with the website, whether through participation on social media platforms or through likes and replies.
For his part, University President Dr. Mustafa Sa'im al-Dahr confirmed in a similar statement that the university aspires to complete all processes digitally, starting from student registration and obtaining results, up to requesting documents. He noted that this is being done gradually through the "My University" application, which was applied to the competition and registration of first-year students, with plans to expand next year to include the first and second years. Sa'im al-Dahr pointed out that the new website will be linked to electronic services to provide significant facilitations, highlighting that it includes a feature for verifying credentials. Any entity can scan the QR Code to verify the authenticity of any document issued by the university and view a matching image via the website, facilitating for students and graduates the ability to prove the validity of their documents from anywhere.
For his part, Rami Al-Alaf, director of the company developing the website, explained in a statement to SANA that the new website allows students to benefit from a range of services, most notably the issuance of graduation documents and searching for colleges and academic programs. He indicated that the development work focused on addressing problems that existed in the previous website, particularly regarding design, information organization, presentation methods, and ease of access, with the aim of adding new electronic services in the coming stage.
