The Daraa governorate and the Syrian Engineers Syndicate signed a memorandum of understanding today, Thursday, aimed at enhancing cooperation and providing engineering services and expertise, and supporting reconstruction efforts in the governorate. The memorandum was signed during a meeting at the governorate building, which brought together Governor Anwar al-Zoubi, Syndicate President Malik Haj Ali, and a number of engineers.
Reduction of engineering service fees
Syndicate President Malik Haj Ali clarified in a statement to SANA that the memorandum includes placing the syndicate's expertise at the disposal of the governorate to support the reconstruction process, along with forming workshops and joint committees to regulate engineering standards and ensure the safe return of residents to their homes. He noted that the syndicate has offered a series of reductions and discounts on engineers' fees to contribute to accelerating the reconstruction process, exceeding 50 percent for strategic, industrial, and tourism projects.
Procedures to facilitate licensing
For his part, Waleed al-Khayrat, a member of the executive office of the Daraa Governorate Council for the municipalities and real estate affairs sector, clarified that the memorandum included reducing engineering fees related to construction permits and industrial and tourism licenses. He indicated that the governorate obtained a special reduction of 50 percent for private buildings, facilitating licensing procedures and benefiting citizens during the reconstruction phase.
Exemptions and technical support
Haj Ali pointed out that people with disabilities resulting from the barbaric shelling by the ousted regime are exempt from engineers' fees, ensuring their assistance in returning to safe homes with an area of up to 50 square meters. He also referred to the full exemption from the fees of technical expertise reports for any citizen wishing to return to their home. The memorandum of understanding comes within the framework of supporting reconstruction efforts and facilitating the return of residents to their homes, and enhancing the quality and safety of construction works, taking into account the economic and social conditions of citizens and regulating the construction sector in the governorate.
