Daraa People's Council members discuss security and service challenges
A dialogue session with Daraa residents to discuss Israeli aggression, water crisis, and issues of the wounded and martyrs.

Members of the People's Council for Daraa Governorate discussed, during a dialogue session held today, Tuesday, in the Workers' Union Hall in the city, with local community figures, notables, and activists, the most prominent challenges facing southern Syria. The discussions covered recent security developments, particularly Israeli aggression and incursions, as well as several living and service issues of concern to the population.

Participants in the session emphasized enhancing communication between the governorate's representatives in the People's Council and the local community, contributing to presenting residents' needs and reviewing their proposals. People's Council member Muayyad al-Qablawi clarified that the goal of the meeting was to listen to the most prominent issues needed by the governorate's residents, and the Council's role in meeting their aspirations and addressing the challenges facing the region.

Al-Qablawi pointed out that discussions focused on rejecting Israeli violations and affirming the unity of Syrian lands. Challenges related to water resources in western Hauran areas were also discussed, along with the necessity of addressing practices affecting water security. He also highlighted the importance of hastening the issuance of the transitional justice law, while participants raised issues concerning the wounded and families of martyrs, stressing the need for a direct and continuous link between Council members and the local community.

For his part, Ramzi Abu Naboot, a member of the Daraa tribe council and one of the organizers of the meeting, clarified that the invitation to the session was to provide a platform for activists and community notables to present their concerns in light of recent developments, including the Jordanian shelling that occurred last month and Israeli incursions. Abu Naboot affirmed that Council members are working to convey demands to the competent authorities and follow them up, expressing hope for the continuation of these meetings to enhance coordination.

Emad Al-Hariri, a resident of Ibtah town, described the meeting as an important step in enhancing direct communication between citizens and state institutions. Al-Hariri emphasized the necessity of paying attention to the water resources file in light of the acute shortage suffered by the region, which requires intervention by relevant authorities to find direct and sustainable solutions. People's Council members continue to hold dialogue sessions with local community representatives in various governorates to enhance communication and respond to needs and legislative work priorities.
