The Dean of the College of Sharia at Homs University, Dr. Essam Abdul Mawla, delivered a detailed explanation of the college's specializations and its academic and professional prospects during a lecture he gave today, Thursday, at the College of Arts and Humanities. The lecture was addressed to students who passed the secondary education certificate and are participating in the "Academic Destination 2" forum.
The lecture covered the introduction of the College of Sharia, with a focus on the Quran and Hadith specialization, which will be established during the current academic year. It also highlighted the importance of specialized fields and the overlap between Islamic sciences, as well as the connection between the college's outputs and the needs of the job market in various fields.
Deepening Specializations in Sharia Sciences
Abdul Mawla clarified in a statement to SANA that the college is working on deepening specialized fields in Sharia sciences. He noted that the job market is no longer limited to traditional fields but requires specializations related to legal, economic, da'wah (proselytizing), intellectual, media, and family issues.
Abdul Mawla pointed out that the lecture focused on the Quran and Hadith specialization, which will be established this year. He explained that other specializations are expected to be established next year, noting that the expected capacity for these specializations ranges between 100 and 150 students, pending the issuance of a decision by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research regarding the competition.
Academic Options for Secondary Education Students
For their part, students participating in the forum, Sama Al-Kurdi and Abdul Ghaffor Sheikh Hamoud, stated that the lecture provided an opportunity to get a clearer understanding of the College of Sharia, its specializations, and the academic options available to secondary education certificate students.
The Supreme Education Council had approved during its fifth session for the 2025-2026 academic year the opening of the College of Sharia at Homs University, with work to begin in the 2026-2027 academic year.
