Deir Ezzor Governorate is hosting the first Syrian-French medical conference on October 16 and 17, organized by the Union of Syrian Doctors and Pharmacists in France (UMPSF), in cooperation with "Mihad" and "French Aid for Syria," with the participation of the Ministries of Health and Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Deir Ezzor Governorate, at the Badia Al-Sham Hotel in Deir Ezzor city.

The president of the Union of Syrian Doctors and Pharmacists in France and the conference chairman, Dr. Abdul Moneim Hamid, announced that this conference is the first in the governorate and the Syrian Jazira region since liberation, and will be held under the title "New Developments in Medicine and Preventive Healthcare in Light of Responding to Local Health Needs," with the participation of medical, scientific, and relief associations from Syria, France, Europe, and Gulf Arab countries.

Specialized sessions and workshops

Hamid pointed out that the conference will include scientific sessions, specialized lectures, and workshops discussing the latest medical developments, with a focus on preventive healthcare and developing health services to suit the local reality, emphasizing that the holding of the conference comes within the framework of enhancing medical and scientific cooperation between Syrian talents inside and outside the country, and exchanging modern expertise to support the health sector.

Medical and relief campaign

The conference will also be followed by a specialized medical, relief, and surgical campaign during the period from October 18 to 22, with the participation of a select group of Syrian and international doctors and surgeons, including examinations, consultations, and medical and surgical interventions, and organizing training workshops in various specialties, including dentistry and oral surgery.

Hamid clarified that the campaign's activities will be implemented in a number of hospitals and health centers within Deir Ezzor, Raqqa, and Al-Hasaka governorates, with the aim of contributing to meeting patients' health needs and supporting local medical staff, with free registration available for students and doctors from within Syria, and details can be viewed via the conference's website.

Earlier, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Marwan Al-Halabi confirmed on October 10 that Deir Ezzor's hosting of the conference represents a strategic beginning to the path of knowledge transfer and localization of advanced medical expertise in the eastern region, and that health equity requires making knowledge and medical talents available to all Syrian governorates.
