Deir Ezzor suspends night trips due to floods and low-pressure system
Night trips from Deir Ezzor to other governorates are suspended due to flood damage and a low-pressure system affecting the region.

The Passenger Transport Directorate in Deir Ezzor Governorate announced the suspension of all night trips heading to other governorates, starting from Sunday, due to the significant danger posed by roads damaged by floods and flash floods. This decision coincides with the governorate being affected by an expected low-pressure system whose impact will last until Monday morning.

The Directorate clarified in an official statement that the decision to suspend trips was a response to the damage and losses incurred by several roads, which pose serious risks to passenger safety. It confirmed that the suspension will continue until the causes of danger are eliminated and the roads return to a safe condition, to ensure no traffic accidents occur.

For his part, the Provincial Emergency Response Committee announced that the impact of the low-pressure system would begin on Sunday evening, peaking during the midnight hours. This will coincide with thunderstorms, heavy rain, and downdraft winds, necessitating the adoption of all necessary precautions.

In this context, Committee Chairman Fayez Abbas called on citizens to comply with public safety procedures and stay away from wadi beds and riverbanks. He also warned against standing in open areas, under trees, and near electricity poles, emphasizing the need to disconnect electrical appliances during thunderstorms and to securely fix solar panels.

The Ministry of Emergency Affairs and Disaster Management had renewed on Saturday its warning about the impact of a weather disturbance on the Badia areas and parts of the eastern, southern, and central regions. The disturbance is expected to be accompanied by heavy thunderous rainfall and the possibility of hail, with the impact concentrated on the Badia of the Damascus countryside and Homs, and the showers extending to parts of Raqqa, Al-Hasakah, Hama, and southern Aleppo countryside.
