The Educational Complex in the city of Al-Tabqa, in the countryside of Raqqa, distributed school books to 62 schools under its jurisdiction on Thursday, after establishing five new schools during the current academic year, compared to approximately 57 schools previously, amid varying rates of meeting needs across educational stages and an increase in student numbers.
The supervisor of the Educational Complex in Al-Tabqa, Ali Al-Mohammed, clarified that the Complex received more than 50,000 school books and distributed them in four batches according to name and numerical lists prepared after determining school needs, ensuring that available quantities are allocated based on student numbers and recorded needs.
Al-Mohammed pointed out the disparity in distribution rates among stages, noting that the batches covered approximately 50 percent of the needs for grades one to six, which are the most in demand, compared to 70 percent for grades seven and eight, and more than 90 percent for grade nine, while available books in schools fully meet the needs of high school students.
Al-Mohammed explained that book distribution is carried out through school librarians, based on written requests and student numbers, with field supervision to ensure they reach them, stressing the importance of accelerating the provision of books for the primary stage due to its fundamental role in supporting the educational process.
Teacher Muhammad Musa highlighted the increase in student numbers with the return of displaced persons from Gulf countries, Lebanon, and Turkey, alongside the transfer of large numbers from private education to official schools due to growing confidence in official education, calling for the provision of complete curricula for all students.
Musa explained that the low rate of meeting the needs of Raqqa Governorate for school books is due to the delayed arrival of some batches and the noticeable increase in student numbers within class sections, which exceeded 40 students.
It is worth noting that the Educational Complex in Al-Tabqa distributed more than 500 school desks to schools in the city and its countryside last September, coinciding with the start of the new academic year, alongside a rise in registered student numbers to more than 50,000 students, compared to approximately 35,000 during the previous academic year.
