The organization "Doctors Without Borders" condemned on Tuesday the exposure of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank for months to "increasing violence and random intimidation and insecurity" at the hands of Israeli settlers.
This came in a statement in which the organization revealed that one of its staff members was subjected to a "brutal assault" by Israeli settlers during a deliberate attack on his village in the West Bank on October 15.
Details of the assault
The organization said that on the evening of October 15, Israeli settlers brutally attacked a colleague from "Doctors Without Borders" with a hand-sized stone launched from a slingshot during a deliberate attack on his village in the southern West Bank, requiring immediate medical care.
The injured man testified that a group of about 20 settlers came down from nearby hills to attack the residents, and more arrived later, armed with clubs, rifles, sound bombs, and slingshots.
Escalation in Hebron
He stated that sound bombs and warning shots from rifles helped them advance into the village and push Palestinian residents. The organization stressed that this incident is not isolated.
It pointed out that over the past months, communities in various parts of Hebron and other areas of the West Bank have been exposed to increasing violence, random intimidation, and insecurity.
Israeli strategy
The organization affirmed that the violence suffered by one of its members, obstacles preventing access to medical care, and increasing restrictions imposed on Palestinian communities are not incidental matters.
It considered that this is part of an Israeli strategy to undermine people's safety, restrict their freedom of movement and access to healthcare, and their ability to live with dignity.
