Ten years after the Egyptian series "Nelly and Sherihan" aired, its two protagonists, sisters Dunia and Amy Samir Ghanem, are back betting on it again by presenting a second part, which is scheduled to be shown as part of the upcoming Ramadan drama season.
Director Karim Al-Sobki revealed, in press statements, the start of preparations for the second part of the series, which he is directing, in preparation for the start of filming next September, which sparked wide interaction on social media platforms, to top search engines, especially Google, in Egypt.

Followers' comments continued on Facebook, expressing their happiness with the return of the series "Nelly and Sherihan", which achieved remarkable success when it was shown during Ramadan in 2016, and then counted the upcoming work as one of the most prominent works expected in Ramadan 2027, and one of the followers commented: "This is the sweetest news, and we hope that they will use the actors themselves because if they change them, it will not achieve the same success." Another account expressed his optimism about the success of the second part, hoping that it will be stronger and more beautiful than the first part.
The events of the first part of the series revolved around the rich and beautiful blonde girl "Nelly", whose character is embodied by Dunia Samir Ghanem, who meets her cousin "Sherihan", who has black hair and comes from a lower social and cultural level, and her character was introduced by Amy Samir Ghanem.
Nelly is forced to live with her cousin after her father's bankruptcy, and a series of comedic situations and ironies arise between them resulting from the great difference in their personalities and lifestyles.
During the events, the two cousins discover that their grandfather's wealth "Mickey" is still there, and that accessing it requires solving a mystery that he left in a magazine he had prepared, and from here "Nelly" and "Sherihan" embark on a journey full of adventures and comedic situations, moving between Cairo, Alexandria, and Hurghada, until they eventually succeed in finding the wealth.
The series was written by Karim Youssef, Mustafa Saqr, and Mohamed Ezz El-Din, and directed by Ahmed El-Gendy, and included a large number of actors, including the late Mahmoud El-Gendy, Salwa Khattab, Bayoumi Fouad, Hisham Maged, Mohamed Salam, Mustafa Khater, and Mohamed Tharwat, as well as guests of honor, the late artists Samir Ghanem and Dalal Abdel Aziz, along with a number of other artists in some of its episodes, including Hassan Al-Radad, Hind Sabri, Ahmed Fahmy, Hamdi Al-Mirghani, the late Ezzat Abu Auf, and Shaimaa Saif, as well as singers Hakim and Abdel Basit Hammouda.
Egyptian critics welcome Sobky's announcement
Critic Khaled Mahmoud, despite his reservations about presenting the parts series, considered that the series "Nelly and Sherihan" is an exception, welcoming the presentation of a second part of it, and said, "It is a smart idea to return to present a second part of a series that was impressively successful, and was associated in the minds of many generations with high-end comedy that relies on dramatic situations, and its heroines Dunia and Amy Samir Ghanem enjoy a remarkable presence, great talent and the love of the audience, in addition to the fact that the series relied on a story full of suspense, and the contradiction between my characters Nelly and Sherihan have created a large fan base for the work."
Critic Mahmoud said that "there is no objection to investing in any drama that has achieved mass success, and re-presenting it after 10 years since the first part of its first part was shown," stressing that its two heroines, Dunia and Amy, did not consume their artistic presence through intensive appearances in cinema and television, which gives their return more attractiveness. Mahmoud points out that the absence of some stars of the first part, after their departure, especially Mahmoud Al-Jundi and Ahmed Halawa, will leave a clear impact on the second part.

The series "Nelly and Sherihan" won the eighth place in the list of the most watched series on YouTube in Egypt, and was re-broadcast several times on Egyptian and Arab satellite channels.
Critic Ahmed Saad El-Din described the series "Nelly and Sherihan" as an "icon" in the world of comedy, pointing out that its title is associated with the names of two of the most prominent stars of Fawazeer Ramadan, considering that "the series succeeded in attracting the audience for several reasons, foremost of which is the presence of its heroines Dunia and Amy Samir Ghanem, in addition to the participation of a group of comedy stars, who together presented light and sophisticated comedy."
Saad El-Din pointed out that "after 10 years of the show, people still remember it, as no competitor work has appeared with its same strength and influence throughout these years, which confirms the crisis of comedy writing."
