The Ministry of Education and Higher Education confirmed that the amendments made to the educational curricula since liberation were limited to a single change during 2025, which was announced and published in the first month, clarifying that it is the only amendment to date.
The Ministry, in a statement published via its Telegram channel on Monday, explained that the development of educational curricula aims to keep pace with the aspirations of Syrians, preserve the diversity of Syrian society, and consolidate values of citizenship, belonging, and respect for others.
Details of the Amendment
The Ministry clarified that the amendment implemented in 2025 included the removal of symbols of the fallen regime and its ideological content, as well as the correction of images and content related to them, particularly in the curricula of social studies and Islamic education after their unification, reflecting the diversity of Syrian society and enhancing the presence of its components and cultures.
The Ministry pointed out the completion of the general national framework for curricula and the establishment of standards for building modern curricula that place the learner at the center of the educational process, develop critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills, and enhance life, digital, and creative skills.
New Standards
The Ministry emphasized the continued work on developing curricula, teaching methods, and evaluation and assessment, aiming to achieve a balance between authenticity and openness, and contributing to preparing a generation aware of its rights and duties, proud of its identity, and capable of keeping pace with developments and participating in building a new Syria.
The Ministry called for accuracy in conveying information, reliance on official sources, and avoiding falling for rumors, confirming that the images attached to the statement illustrate the diversity present in the educational curricula.
