Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty confirmed on Tuesday to his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi the necessity of an immediate halt to attacks on Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that "there is no justification for these attacks and they cannot be accepted." This came during a phone call received by Abdelatty from Araghchi, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two ministers discussed "the overall regional situation and the rapid developments witnessed by the region, and the efforts made to de-escalate and contain current tensions." Abdelatty affirmed "the necessity of an immediate halt to all attacks targeting the territory of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the brotherly kingdom." In an interview with the American "Bloomberg" channel, Abdelatty expressed Egypt's readiness to provide "all forms of support" requested by Saudi Arabia in the face of attacks, according to a previous statement from the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.

For his part, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei expressed on Monday his country's readiness to help end tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis through dialogue. The escalation comes amid a continuous military confrontation between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis since July last year, which included attacks on civil aviation facilities and energy installations within the Kingdom.

He pointed out that Egypt views the negotiation track as "the only way to settle existing differences and spare the region from the risks of sliding into further escalation and instability." Abdelatty stressed "the importance of prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions, and returning to the track of negotiation and dialogue between Iran and the United States." On June 18 last year, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding, but it collapsed amid disagreements regarding navigation in the strategic Hormuz Strait for global energy and goods supplies.
