The original and extra time of the match ended in a positive draw (1-1), so the two teams went to penalties, which in the end smiled in favor of the "Pharaohs" with a score of (4-2), so that the Egyptian team continued its journey in the world championship.
Imam Ashour opened the scoring for Egypt in the 13th minute, giving his team an early advantage, before realizing the tie for the Australian team through a reverse goal scored by Mohamed Hani by mistake in the goal of his country's national team at the 55th minute.
With this exciting win, the Egyptian national team will set up a date in the round of eight of the 2026 World Cup final with the winner of the match against Argentina and the head of the podium.

The coach of the Egyptian national team, Hossam Hassan, dedicated his country's qualification to the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup to the Palestinian people, along with the Egyptian people, and Hassan said, in statements to the "BeIN Sports" channel: "I dedicate the victory to another party next to the Egyptian people.
