The director of the Syrian-Jordanian Joint Free Zone Customs, Abdul Rahman Mahmoud Al-Nawaserah, affirmed the administration's commitment to developing customs performance and simplifying procedures through digital transformation, which contributes to accelerating the completion of transactions and encouraging investment. Al-Nawaserah noted in a statement to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) on Monday that the free zone represents a promising strategic platform capable of opening new horizons for the private sector and providing job opportunities, emphasizing that there are no obstacles hindering investment given the competitive advantages it enjoys.
For his part, the director of public relations at the free zone, Mohammad Dibaja, clarified that the administration is working with full efforts to translate the directives of the leaderships of both countries and enhance economic cooperation, and to provide the best services to investors and traders to ensure the continuity of trade exchange. The investment director at the company, Ahmad Al-Sari, confirmed that the zone has transcended its traditional role as a center for storing goods to provide real investment opportunities, pointing out the entry of 22,000 transport vehicles and 44,000 tourist cars since the beginning of this year, and the signing of eight new investment contracts since September 6 with a total area of 11,000 square meters.
For his part, investor Mohammad Saqqar said that the zone provides an attractive environment thanks to reduced shipping costs and speed of completion, but he pointed out challenges related to the non-issuance of certificates of origin directly from the two countries and the short official working hours. Industrial investor Khaled Al-Hayajneh emphasized the importance of the zone's geographical location as an artery connecting Syria, Jordan, and neighboring countries, praising investment security and tax exemptions, and calling for a reduction in high fees and extension of working hours to meet the requirements of service and industrial activities.
The Syrian-Jordanian Joint Free Zone, located near the Nussayb border crossing, forms the cornerstone for restoring regional land transport routes, and embodies the positive results of open economic policies between Syria and Jordan, ensuring the activation of intra-trade and facilitating the flow of goods between Arab and regional countries.
